Craggs Energy ‘fuels’ workforce with 7 new apprentices
The 12 month scheme will provide the apprentices with commercial business skills, a sales qualification and a guaranteed job within the company upon completion of the course. During the year the apprentices will be exposed to all elements of the business including sales, finance, operations and marketing. With the support and funding of Calderdale Council, a purpose built training and office space has been created for the Academy, ensuring a suitable professional working and training environment for the apprentices.
Initially the apprentices were invited to attend an open morning where they were able to find out more about the scheme and have a tour of the workplace. After completing the application process they were put through their paces during an assessment day held at our Head Office in Cragg Vale. During this assessment day, the applicants spent the day working both individually and as part of a team on a wide range of tasks and presentations before having a one on one interview with our CEO Chris Bingham.
Chris said “It was really important that we found the right candidates for the scheme – and I’m sure we have!”
“We’re only a young company but we are growing very fast, we have identified that as we grow we need to keep adding to our talent, because of this we have invested heavily in the academy. If it works as we expect we hope it is something that we will be able to run every year!”
We distribute Heating Oil, Red Diesel and other fuels and lubricants across the North West and Yorkshire from four depots, employing more than forty full time members of staff.
The seven apprentices, aged from 16 to 20, live between Hebden Bridge and Huddersfield and will travel daily to the Cragg Vale office. Robbie Rouse, Sales Operations Manager said “we are delighted to welcome our apprentices to the Craggs Energy team and are excited to see them progress through the next 12 months!”
