Carbon Offsetting

Working towards a cleaner future with carbon offsetting

At Craggs Energy, we believe in taking responsibility for the environment and helping our customers reduce their carbon footprint. While we offer greener fuel alternatives like renewable diesel (HVO), we know that not all emissions can be eliminated. That’s where carbon offsetting comes in.

Carbon offsetting means balancing out the CO2 emissions your home, business, or farm creates by supporting projects that reduce or remove the same amount from the atmosphere. It’s a simple yet powerful way to contribute to the planet’s health by supporting projects like tree planting. Through our accredited initiatives, we make it easy for you to offset your carbon footprint, whether at home or in your business.

Offsetting the carbon from your heating oil is a small step that makes a big difference. With minimal effort, you can offset the carbon emissions from your home’s heating, supporting projects that focus on reforestation, renewable energy, and other sustainable practices.

We collaborate exclusively with well-established and experienced carbon project developers, all verified by external global organisations, to help you offset your emissions.

If you’d like to offset your carbon footprint, let us know when you place your order. Our team will handle the rest and you’ll get your delivery as normal. Once you’ve got your fuel, we’ll let you know how much carbon you’ve offset and which projects you’ve supported.

For businesses, carbon offsetting is an essential step toward sustainability. Whether you’re offsetting emissions from your heating oil, fleet fuel, or other operations, our service helps you balance your carbon footprint. By contributing to certified carbon reduction projects, your business or farm can play a part in larger-scale environmental solutions.

We only partner with externally validated carbon project developers to offset your emissions through the purchase of Voluntary Carbon Units (VCUs), fuelling investment in sustainable projects. We’ll handle the logistics and provide you with documentation about the amount of carbon you’ve offset after your deliveries, alongside details of which projects you’ve supported.

Future eco-oils for your home

We never stand still. That’s why we’re working on a lower carbon option for domestic heating oil. In the future, you’ll be able to use it in your existing heating system, without any expensive changes, allowing you to keep costs down while you cut your carbon.

Together, we can make a difference.

Scope 1 – Direct emissions

These are the emissions you have the most control over—like the gas you burn to heat your home or the fuel used in company vehicles.

Scope 2 – Indirect energy emissions

Even though you’re not producing these emissions yourself, they come from the electricity you use. For example, when you switch on the lights, the power station generating that electricity produces emissions on your behalf.

Scope 3 – Everything else

This is the trickiest category because it includes emissions from sources you don’t directly control, like the carbon footprint of your suppliers, deliveries to your home or office, and even the travel emissions of your employees.
