Name, Age and where you live?
My name is Emily Yates, I am 19 years old and I live in Hebden Bridge.
Where were you a year ago?
I was studying an NVQ Level 3 in Child Care, Learning and Development at Burnley College. I originally wanted to be a Nurse/Midwife but I was unsuccessful on getting into Uni. I didn’t really want to work in Nurseries anymore and wanted to do something different…
Where are you now?
I am now an apprentice at Craggs Energy. I started on the 17th August 2015 and I am working towards an NVQ Level 3 in Professional Sales. I have now been given a new role within the company as part of Craggs Energy’s Customer Experience team, looking after all our customers.
I am due to finish my qualification in August 2016. I get a guaranteed job at the end of it so I will be doing my best here at Craggs Energy… I think I am also going to do another NVQ in Customer Experience to further my skills and knowledge.
What does your qualification mean to you?
I love coming to work every day and I get paid to learn! It means a lot to me to be able to come to work and enjoy what I am doing whilst gaining a qualification (NVQ level 3 in Professional Selling). I love it! I’m always learning something new every day!
How will this qualification help you in the future?
Whilst doing this qualification I am constantly learning new skills. These skills aren’t just sales skills but transferable skills that can be used in any workplace, such as communication skills, I.T skills, and much, much more!
Would you recommend Craggs Energy to other students and friends?
Yes!! With my lack of confidence I never thought I would end up in sales, but now I have come so far and I love my job! I would definitely recommend!
Emily’s mum has the last word…
“ I would just like to thank Chris Bingham and his team at Craggs energy, for giving Emily the opportunity to experience the ‘real world’ and giving her and the rest of the academy the support they need to be successful, confident people in the future. I have worked from the age of 13 and I know how important it is to find a job that is both enjoyable and satisfying. I think that Emily is on the way to achieving this, thanks to the dedication and commitment of the Craggs energy group.
Just one thing to say… ‘Thank you!’
