Summer Top Up

It’s that time of the year again, the UK Heatwave has taken over and it's only natural for us Brits to change our whole outlook on life: tops come off, beer gardens are overrun and we constantly complain that it’s ‘too hot’.

So, the last thing you’ll be thinking about is filling up your oil tank, however, we’re here to tell you why you should top up your oil tank this summer to protect your tank and heating oil system.

Why Top Up Your Oil Tank?

The heat and moisture due to the hot weather can cause condensation to occur in your oil tank which when mixed with your fuel can lead to the build-up of harmful tank sludge.

Tank sludge can lead to the blockage of pipes and filters, reductions in boiler efficiency and overall system damage.

Why should you top up?

It's simple; if your tank is full there is less air space inside the tank for condensation to form! Less condensation means less water interacting with the fuel and a lower risk of sludge developing!

Benefits of a Summer Top Up

  1. Reduces condensation
  2. Peace of mind – no surprise run outs!
  3. A summer price!

The Industry

Autumn has arrived

Autumn has arrived...we can feel it with the slightly cooler temperatures, a little bit more breeze in the air and the nights that are getting longer.

As the majority of the region will now (or very soon) be putting their heating on, a quick check of your heating system is crucial to ensure you don’t get caught out in the cold!

Craggs Autumn Checklist:

  • Clear Tank
Clear away any debris, weeds or overgrown plants from the immediate oil tank area, and make sure the path to the tank is clear for you and our delivery tanker driver.
  • Tank Quality
Check a metal oil tank for signs of rust, or a plastic tank for signs of sun bleaching or cracking. Call our team to book an OFTEC certified tank inspection.
  • Check Oil Level
When you heat your home with home heating oil, it is important to keep an eye on the tank level. Running out is the last thing you want to happen!
