Successful Acquisition Drives Craggs Group Commercial Success

At the beginning of this year, Craggs Energy acquired Devon-based fuel supplier Moorland Fuels which has a fantastic reputation that has been built over the past 15 years and strong relationships with rural homeowners, farms and businesses.

Since the acquisition and subsequent investment from the Northern-based Craggs Energy Group, Moorland Fuels has increased both its fleet and commercial customer base. With the addition of a brand new six-wheeler tanker and baby tanker, they have been able to expand their geographical footprint across the entire South West region and offer more flexibility to businesses in the area, whilst still continuing to deliver the same great service to existing customers. In addition to this, the Craggs Group has been able to extend their ‘green fuel services” capabilities to Moorland Fuels which include the ability to carbon offset fuel purchases of all types and the supply of GreenD+ HVO, a renewable drop-in replacement for diesel which produces up to 90% less emissions compared to its fossil fuel equivalent. Both initiatives have been well received by both the historical and new customer base with one business moving to a 4.5 million litres contract for the green fuel over the next three years.

We have taken on board several new initiatives such as the GreenD+ HVO fuel and due to the success of The Craggs Apprenticeship Academy scheme we are now looking to recruit several apprentices to join our team here in Devon.”

The Craggs Energy Group celebrates its tenth anniversary this year and consists of a variety of businesses in the fuel oil sector which are based across the UK. After several successful acquisitions, the group now includes; two fuel distribution companies, an environmental risk mitigation business, a fuel card provider and a fuel and lubricant brokerage business.
