Gas Oil
Gas Oil (also known as Red Diesel, 35 Second Burning Oil and Tractor Diesel) is a liquid fuel product used for off highway machinery. The fuel contains a red dye to identify it as it carries a lower duty than regular White Diesel.
C51
We have found an ever increasing number of customers who are finding difficulties with the performance and status of the Gas Oil in their tank which may cause the following issues;
- Water intrusion
- Sludge in the tank
- Blocked filters
- Lack of lubricity
- Poor performance
Why?
In 2011 the Government changed their legislation as a result of EU pressure to decrease off highway emissions. This legislation resulted in a change to our standard Class A2 Gas Oil so that now we see higher levels of BioDiesel and considerably lower levels of Sulphur. Additionally poor performance can be seen in modern tractors using Class A2 Gas Oil as they have been designed for a Pan-European Market to run on DERV (White Diesel) which has a higher cetane level than Gas Oil.
To solve this issue we created C51 a blend of Gas Oil with an additive which boosts the cetane level to 51 to match the levels seen in White Diesel. The blend also improves lubricity when under load an works to preserve the fuel by preventing deposit formation and filter blockages.
